GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is considered a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope and Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes. Takes initiative when collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and coordinating the patients plan of care. Exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions. Maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the Department of Nursing strategic goals and objectives. Demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice and supports Nursing Departments philosophy of nursing. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner Health System’s “Ochsner Expectations†as duties are performed on a daily basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Experience & Training:
Current licensure or permit in State of Louisiana. Preferred one (1) year of experience in the area of practice. Must maintain current BLS certification. Completion of Pediatric Trauma Module required prior to end of unit orientation. Must acquire ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications within six (6) months of employment.
Other Qualifications:
Must be self motivated. Strong interpersonal communication skills, positive customer relations skills, strong organizational skills, strong delegating skills, strong decision making skills, leadership ability, and ability to set priorities. Computer experience preferred
Physical Demands:
As per Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Vol. II, 4th edition, Medium Work- exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 lbs. of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work (1991, pg. 1013).
