Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Louisiana. Board certified or eligible in family medicine or internal medicine, with proficiency in women's health, child-adolescent, and STD examinations.
Preferred:
Professional medical experience Internal Medicine or combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics who is board certified or board eligible Necessary Special Requirement: Must maintain BCLS and ACLS certificaton

Job Concepts:
Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Care Services Medical Director, the incumbent provides direct patient care services for Ambulatory Clinics, Community Medicine Program, and Special Program Clinics. Assure proper compliance with all policies and regulations, and oversees direct patient care services at the clinic level. Works cooperatively with State and local parish Boards of Health, civic groups, officials, community partners, and serves as the lead patient advocate for Community Clinics and or School Based Health Centers (SBHCs).
Provides the first point of contact for people seeking healthcare, by acting as the traditional family physician and in Medical Home Clinic within clinics; will assess and treat a wide range of conditions. Diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and injuries that commonly occur in the general population.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
50% Assumes quality of care for all patients. Performs physical examinations, prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patientsâ condition. Monitors patientsâ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary. 20% Adheres to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times. Collects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results. Explains procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients. 20% Advises patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary. 10% Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists,and other medical staff. Recommends changes in all clinical areas, and/or in general areas to improve the patient flow, medical records, billing practices, and appointment practices. Directs and supervises clinical staff, as appropriate.
