The Emergency Department (ED)Transport Technician is responsible for facilitating movement of ED patients to all ancillary departments and inpatient units as it pertains to their care in the emergency department. The ED transport technican demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide transportation to acutely ill adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, medical, surgical and critical care needs and acutely ill pediatric patients. The ED transport technician provides for patient safety and infection control by using universal precautions in all care giving and related activities. The ED transport technician is responsible for making rounds on all patients, assisting their needs, replinishing ED supplies and linen to appropriate supply bins daily in all areas of the ED. Care is delivered in a manner that maintains and respects the patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
