GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Sonographer I performs various diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations under the direc! tion of a PediatricCardiologist in the inpatient and outpatient environment. Compiling history and diagnostic information from the Ultrasound examination, the Sonographer I presents the Pediatric Cardiologist with preliminary sonographic findings. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner's Expectations as duties are performed on a daily basis.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Experience & Training:
Sonographer must be RDCS certified (under the guidelines of The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or CCI certified (under the guidelines of Cardiovascular Credentialing International) in Adult Echo. One year of cardiac ultrasound work experience accepted in lieu of RDCS or CCI Adult Echo certification. Sonographer must become Pediatric ECHO registered within three years of employment. Requires knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and the hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to the various disease states. Must be! able to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on! nationally published criteria. Assists Pediatric Cardiologist and attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic
guidance.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills, and maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure. Ability and willingness to maintain flexibility in work duties and hours. Provides care and/or support services in a manner consistent with the patient's age, social, spiritual, and cultural needs and other special consideration.
