T he Echocardiographer effectively maintains the Standards of Practice and Care using direct and indirect care. Provides accurate, efficient,and good quality t! esting to all patients and adheres to organizational and unit specific policies and procedures. Adheres to regulatory bodies requirements and professional practice standards.The Echocardiographer operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Echocardiographer promotes collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. Major Duties: Perform echocardiograms to include 2D, m mode, color flow and Doppler on adult and pediatric patients. Perform stress echocardiograms, stress dobutamines, and assist with setting up all stress test patients as needed. Assist the Cardiologist with Transesophageal echos both as diagnostic and intraoperative. The echocardiographer will not manipulate the TEE probe only present to operate the machine. Perform all paperwork that goes along with all echocardiographic exams to include the worksheets with all information completed, charging procedures, and charting in the computer to include patient identifiers, documentation of procedure c! ompleted with date and time, how they travel, education (expla! nation and understanding), and all other information pertinent to the procedure. Apply halter monitors on patients and scan them when returned. Perform Peripheral Vascular studies as needed. Transport patients to and from procedures. Notify outpatients of procedures for the next day with time to arrive and explanation of procedure. Collection of quality and performance improvement as assigned. Collaborate with other departments to get patients test completed timely. Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospitalâs strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives. Assists in the orientation and training of new and tenured personnel, students, and serves as a preceptor when requested.
Accepts delegated responsibilities. Reports abnormal informat! ion gathered immediately to appropriate physician. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Preferred: Graduate of accredited Sonographer school with one year experience in clinical setting. Required: High school diploma with p roficiency in skills as indicated on skills checklist prior to end of 90-day probationary period. Six months experience doing Cardiology procedures. Computer knowledge. Licensure/Certification: Required: Registered Cardiovascular Sonograper or Registered Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonographer. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.
