The Emergency Department Paramedic, operating under the ED Medical Director and using approved medical protocols, assists the ED staff in the implementation of the nursing/medica! l plan of care by performing approved patient treatments and procedures. Tasks may involve non-patient care as well as direct patient care activities. The ED Paramedic participates in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, assists patients during their stay, and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the work area.
High School or equivalent Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
or Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN
State of Louisiana Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (current).
Basic Life Support - Professional Rescuer Level (ARC or AHA only) (current)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA only) (current)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA only) (current)
Current LPN License for State of Louisiana, if applicable.
