General Job Summary
The PCT Nurse Tech is responsible for and works collabor! atively with and under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to provide for the delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing process. The PCT Nurse Tech communicates effectively with coworkers, patients, family and visitors and provides a safe environment for the patient. The PCT Nurse Tech will assist the patient to reach optimal functioning considering their individual capabilities and will performs non-complex tasks as delegated by the staff nurse and defined by The Nurse Practice Act and The Louisiana Administrative Code. The PCT Nurse Tech must keep nursing personnel informed and adheres to the policies and procedures of Ochsner Medical Center.
Required Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training
High School Diploma
Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA)
Healthcare provider CPR
Experience / Skills
Positive interpersonal skills; ability to! effectively and professionally work with people from all back! grounds
Experience organizing and prioritizing activities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Experience working with computers and standard office equipment (fax, copier and scanner)
Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
Experience / Skills / Competencies
Completion of the junior year of a National League of Nursing accredited school program and be a student in good standing with the school of nursing.
Hospital and telemetry experience
Essential Position Duties
1. Utilizes the Nursing Process in the performance of a variety of patient care duties: Assessment, Planning, and Evaluation
2. Perform designated patient care skills safely, competently and independently
3. Notifies RN of changes in patient condition and documents care provided.
