For complete informations about this career opportunity kindly read the description below. The Registered Nurse effectively maintains the Standards of Practice and Care. Utilizing the nursing process, provides nursing care based on recognized professional and l! egal standards of practice and promotes collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital’s strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives.
Assesses/reassess patient’s condition based upon observation of patient and interview of patient and/or family, physician’s diagnosis and data, diagnostic results, and relevant data from other healthcare providers. Documents all aspects of patient care and maintains patient records, in a timely manner. Provides patients and family members with relevant health care education and instructions regarding treatments and procedures including pre/post hospital care as appropriate. Delegates responsibility to appropriate personnel, as well as, accepts de! legated responsibility for function such as, but not limited t! o, charge nurse for unit activities on assigned shift.
Assists in the orientation and training of new and tenured personnel, reassigned nurses, student nurses, patient care assistants, and faculty; serves as a preceptor when requested and submits appropriate documentation in a timely manner. Responds to internal/external disaster as directed. Accountable for nursing practice to the Chief Nursing Officer or designee in the facility in which practice takes place. Consistently provides for the continuum of care through communication with all disciplines.
Note: Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Current knowledge of the nursing role and scope of practice as defined by the State of Louisiana Nurse Practice Act and the Louisiana Board of Nursing. Current knowledge of American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics. Knowledge of current trends and demonstration of stand! ards of care in assigned unit.
Successful completion of mandatory requirements including unit proficiencies/competencies. Demonstration of effective problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication. Demonstration of positive customer service.
Education: Preferred: BSN from an accredited program for nursing education. Required: Graduate of an NLN accredited RN program. Experience: Preferred: One year experience in the clinical area of application. Required: Post Partum Pediatrics, PALS & ACLS within 6 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification: Preferred: AWOHNN Basic Fetal Monitoring Certification, NRP. Required: Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Louisiana. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.
